They say that the world has gone materialistic.Nobody bothers even for their family, then forget about friends and relatives. But what I am gonna tell here would transform the thoughts of the readers as it did that of mine.

We have a family friend. I won’t crack the name. Age – in his mid 50s and is shouldered a responsibility of feeding nine to ten members of his family. He has no permanent source of income but is a very good artist and has a tough and tight hold on literature be it English or Hindi.

But I think that the pen with which God wrote his destiny was the blackest of all.Inspite of his extraordinary knowledge, interest and caliber ,God could not bless him with a job.It is said ‘Dhundne se Khuda bhi milta hai’ but that too to the lucky ones and uncle was certainly not one of them.He moved heaven and earth to just find a job but could not get it.And then came a bolt from the blues. His scooter gave up.It could not accompany him anymore. And I think you can make out that it was not even sold.So now uncle had to measure the dimensions of the city on foot. Imagine a man in his fifties toiling hard in the scorching sun. God has stopped looking down, I thought. Nevertheless he finally got a part time job in one of the newspaper’s press. So he went for his job by walking.

One day, a lady who considered uncle as her elder brother, her mentor (of course kind men are always rich in one thing and that is relatives, friends and well-wishers and so was our dear uncle) saw him toiling in the sun. She asked him why he is measuring the roads on foot. He told her the reason. She was in a Luna (so you can make out that she too was not so well to do off) and she at once got down from her vehicle and told uncle to use it and keep it for himself. Now I don’t need to mention that uncle was not ready to keep it. But the lady was adamant. So uncle had to give up and he accepted it. After all uncle was his mentor and who could see his or her mentor struggling.

Recently uncle visited our house. My mummy and papa call him ‘Bhaiya’ (yet another ‘made’ relation of uncle). When uncle told this to mummy and papa, my mummy asked him “so bhaiya, where is that Luna? I saw you coming here on foot.” And his reply was “Arey one day I saw a poor girl who too was out in a sun going to her school. And I felt that she needs it more than me, so I gave that Luna to her.”!!

And this is the incident that moved and ram shackled my soul. Didn’t it yours????My mother nearly had tears in her eyes when she narrated all this to me and so had I.I was dumbstruck and full of words to say anything.

Hats off to that lady who knew what a mentor is and valued him so much and hats off to the mentor himself. I thought ‘God! Is this man an incarnation of yours or he is you yourself!!.

He is your true child and truly , truly deserves to be called as a human being.’In this materialistic era where a man throws dust in the eyes of his own people , uncle had a heart and a will to think of a girl whom he did not even know.He put his shoulders to the wheels of an unknown person! He is I tell you a divine creature on this earth (atleast for me).So after reading all this who would say that the world has gone materialistic and nobody here cares for anybody!!

God bless these ‘Taare Zameen Par’.
